Red Hands

This story was somewhat confusing at first. I had a hard time getting into it because the two characters that were being described seemed so disjointed.
Even with the clarification at the end I found making the connection somewhat difficult. It makes an interesting point, but not one I'm sure I agree with.
This could just be my biology side talking but all the same this particular short story should have come with a warning. I was attempting to eat while reading it. Not a good idea considering the descriptions towards the end, so now the rest of my food will have to wait inside the refridgerator until I'm not longer queasy.
Speaking of the view of a scientist whoever wrote/edited this story has never more than stepped inside of a lab. Some of the descriptions were accurate, but not all of them. There's something to be said for just describing things as you actually see them versus having intimate knowledge of what they're for and exactly how they're used. Because I have done lab work for so long I was very distracted by some of the details that were wrong or missing from this part.
Some of the distraction was also how dispassionately the author described some of the scenes. It was the tone of the entire story but it made it hard to really connect with the characters and understand them and therefore get into the story. You just keep reading hoping that somewhere along the line it's going to make sense.
I never thought I'd say it...but I think I like Cathy Day better.
